Mission Statement
The Solid Waste Management Department provides the proper management of the collection and disposal of all solid waste generated within the borders of Hardee County using practices that ensure the sanctity of the county’s environment and that are consistent with the goals and objectives of the Board of County Commissioners. Solid Waste disposal includes waste generated from commercial and residential units as well as wood, yard trash, and construction and demolition debris. This department acts as a resource agency for county residents and businesses to properly manage and dispose of any waste they may generate. The department manages specialized programs such as the Notification and Verification Program for commercial evaluations of hazardous waste generation, Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program, Household Sharps Collection Program, and Recycling.
Recycling Program
Our recycling program is currently operational and the drop-off is located at the Main Landfill Facility. We are currently recycling newspapers, glass Bottles (clear and color ), cardboard, batteries, used oil, aluminum, and metal. Pick-up is not available at this time, but any resident is welcome to drop off anything during normal business hours.
