It is the mission of the Hardee County Building Department to protect the life, health, safety and property of county residents and visitors. We strive to accomplish this through the careful examination of permit applications, building plans and by carefully inspecting completed work to insure it is in compliance with the requirements of the Florida Building Code, National Electric Code, Florida Fire Prevention Code, Department of Environmental Protection, Southwest Florida Water Management District, Florida Administrative Code and Statutes.
Do I need a Permit? YES!
FBC 105.1: Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, covert or replace any impact-resistant coverings, electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit.
102.2 Building: The provisions of the Florida Building Code shall apply to the construction, erection, alteration, modification, repair, equipment, use and occupancy, location, maintenance, removal and demolition of every public and private building, structure or facility or floating residential structure, or any appurtenances connected or attached to such buildings structures or facilities. Additions, alterations, repairs and changes of occupancy group in all buildings and tructures shall comply with the provisions provided in Chapter 34 of this code.
